Notary services in Montevideo

Deeds, powers of attorney, certifications and notarial assistance in corporate, wealth and real estate transactions. We integrate the notarial work with legal and tax advice, so that every document reflects a well-considered decision.

Approach

The notary, part of the transaction from the start

In Uruguay the notary public (escribano) attests to acts and documents, and is required for property purchases, powers of attorney, signature certifications and many corporate acts. When the notarial side is coordinated from the start with the legal and tax side, the transaction moves forward without delays or surprises.

GlobalTax steps in to:

  • Draft and execute deeds with legal and tax backing
  • Review titles and records before a transaction
  • Prepare powers of attorney and documents for use in Uruguay or abroad
  • Certify signatures and documents
  • Coordinate with registries and public agencies

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about notary services

A university-trained professional who holds public faith: drafts and executes deeds, certifies signatures and documents, reviews property titles and handles registrations. Their involvement is mandatory in acts such as the purchase of real estate.

Yes. It can be granted before a notary in the country where you are or at the Uruguayan consulate. If a foreign notary grants it, it generally needs an apostille (or legalisation) and, if it is not in Spanish, a translation. We prepare the wording and the steps so that it is valid in Uruguay.

It is the review of a property’s ownership history and of the registry certificates, to confirm that the seller is the owner, is able to sell and that there are no attachments, mortgages or other encumbrances.

Fees are based on the scale of the Uruguayan Notaries Association and depend on the type of act and the amount involved. We give you a quote before we start.

Yes. We work in Spanish, English and Portuguese, and arrange sworn translations when a document requires one.
